01 / Overview

What is an image difference checker?

An image difference checker compares two pictures at the pixel level so you can see exactly what changed. Load an original and a revised image, inspect them as an overlay or split view, then highlight changed pixels with an adjustable tolerance. The files stay in your browser throughout the comparison.

How to use

  1. 01
    Add both images

Choose or drop the original picture and the changed picture. PNG, JPEG, and WebP files are supported.

  2. 02
    Run the comparison

Select Compare images. The tool aligns both files at the top left and compares every RGBA pixel.

  3. 03
    Inspect each view

Switch between overlay, split view, and pixel difference. Adjust opacity, split position, or difference tolerance as needed.

  4. 04
    Save the evidence

Copy the current canvas or download a PNG of the comparison result.

Who it's for

  • Designers can check revised mockups for shifted spacing, changed colors, or missing elements.
  • Developers and QA teams can inspect screenshot regressions that are hard to catch by switching browser tabs.
  • Photographers and editors can compare retouching, color grading, and crop adjustments before delivery.
  • Content teams can verify that only the intended parts of a banner, diagram, or product image changed.

This image comparison tool works without an account or file upload. It supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP files, aligns both images at the top-left corner, and can export the current comparison as a PNG.

FAQ

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser decodes, aligns, compares, displays, and exports both images on your device. CanDoYa does not receive the files or the generated comparison, although normal site analytics may record that you visited the page.

Is the image difference checker free?

Yes. You can compare images, use every viewing mode, change the tolerance, and export a PNG without an account, subscription, or watermark. Your browser and device memory set the practical limit for large files.

What formats and size limits are supported?

The tool accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP files up to 25 MB each. Each side can be at most 8,192 pixels, and the combined comparison canvas can contain up to 20 million pixels.

How does pixel difference highlighting work?

The tool compares red, green, blue, and alpha values at every pixel. A pixel is highlighted in pink when any channel differs by more than the selected tolerance. Matching pixels remain as a faint grayscale reference.

Can I compare images with different dimensions?

Yes. The comparison canvas uses the larger width and height. Both images start at the top-left corner, and any area not covered by the smaller image is transparent, so size differences appear in the pixel diff.

Why do JPEG images show tiny differences?

JPEG compression changes color values in small blocks, even when two pictures look nearly identical. Increase the difference tolerance to suppress minor compression noise while keeping larger visual changes highlighted.

What is the difference between overlay and split view?

Overlay places the changed image over the original with adjustable opacity, which exposes movement and color shifts. Split view shows the original on one side and the changed version on the other, with an adjustable dividing position.
