01 / Overview

What does an image resizer do?

An image resizer changes a picture's pixel width and height for websites, social posts, documents, or email. Choose exact dimensions or a preset, keep the original aspect ratio when needed, preview the result, and download a new PNG, JPG, or WebP file without uploading the original.

Who it's for

  • Website owners can resize large photos before adding them to articles, landing pages, and product listings.
  • Social media teams can start with square, portrait, story, and link-preview dimensions.
  • Students and office workers can fit images into slides, forms, documents, and email attachments.
  • Developers and designers can create exact PNG, JPG, or WebP assets without opening a desktop editor.

Everything happens in your browser, so the source image stays on your device. The tool uses high-quality Canvas smoothing and staged downscaling for large reductions. You can preserve proportions for a natural-looking resize or use an exact frame when a platform requires fixed dimensions.

FAQ

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser reads, resizes, previews, and exports the image on your device. The selected file and resized result are not sent to CanDoYa or another processing server.

Is this image resizer free?

Yes. You can resize images without an account, subscription, watermark, or download limit. Browser and device memory are the practical limits for very large images.

What image formats can I resize?

The tool accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP images up to 50 MB. You can export the result as PNG, JPEG, or WebP, depending on which format best fits transparency, compatibility, and file size.

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Keep Lock aspect ratio turned on and change either the width or height. The other dimension updates from the original proportions. Exact frame presets may use a different ratio, so check the preview before downloading.

Does resizing an image reduce quality?

Any pixel resize changes image data. Downsizing usually stays sharp with good smoothing, while enlarging can look soft because the source has no extra detail to recover. JPEG and WebP quality settings can also trade detail for a smaller file.

Why does a JPEG lose transparency?

JPEG does not support transparent pixels, so this resizer fills transparent areas with white before export. Choose PNG or WebP when you need to preserve a transparent background.
