Whitespace at a text boundary is easy to miss. It can make spreadsheet values fail an exact match, add noise to copied lists or leave source files with invisible trailing characters. This tool removes ordinary spaces, tabs, non-breaking spaces and other Unicode spacing characters from the selected edges.

Keep Trim every line on for lists, code output and multiline data. Turn it off to trim only the outside of the complete text block. Unlike a general space cleaner, this operation does not collapse repeated spaces between words.

FAQ

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The trimming runs locally in your browser with client-side JavaScript. Your text is not sent to a server, which makes the tool suitable for drafts, internal notes, logs and other content you prefer to keep on your device.

Is the whitespace trimmer free?

Yes. The tool is free to use with no sign-up, download or fixed usage limit. Paste or type text, choose which edges to trim and copy the live result when it looks right.

How much text can I trim at once?

There is no fixed character limit. Trimming is a small local text operation, so normal documents process instantly. Very large input is limited only by your browser memory and what remains practical to inspect in one text box.

What counts as whitespace?

The tool recognizes ordinary spaces, tabs, non-breaking spaces, byte-order marks and other Unicode spacing characters at line edges. In whole-block mode, outer line breaks also count as whitespace and can be removed from the beginning or end.

Does trimming remove spaces between words?

No. It removes whitespace only at the selected boundaries. Repeated spaces, tabs or alignment inside a line stay exactly as entered. Use Remove Extra Spaces when you want to collapse internal spacing as well.

Can I remove trailing spaces but keep indentation?

Yes. Turn off Trim starts and leave Trim ends enabled. Leading spaces and tabs then remain untouched, while whitespace after the last visible character is removed from each line or from the full text block.

What does Trim every line do?

When enabled, the selected cleanup runs independently on every line while preserving all line separators. When disabled, only the outer start and end of the complete text block are trimmed, and whitespace inside the block remains unchanged.

Does it work with non-English text?

Yes. Trimming depends on Unicode whitespace characters, not English words or grammar. Letters, punctuation, emoji and scripts such as Arabic, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Japanese and Korean remain unchanged.
