The tool loads a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg only when you export. It re-encodes the video as H.264 MP4 and keeps the first audio track as AAC when one exists. The longest output side is capped at 1920 pixels, which keeps portrait exports within the sizes most platforms expect. Browser memory and processor speed make the tool best for short or moderate clips.

Is my video uploaded when I make it vertical?

No. The browser reads your selected file and a WebAssembly video engine creates the result in this tab. The engine code downloads when first needed, but your source video and the vertical result are not sent to CanDoYa or stored in an account.

What is the difference between crop and pad mode?

Crop mode fills the 9:16, 4:5, or 1:1 frame by cutting the sides of a landscape video, so the picture is larger but edges are lost. Pad mode fits the whole video inside the frame and fills the leftover space with a blurred copy or solid black, so nothing is cut.

Which aspect ratio should I use for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok?

All three platforms prefer 9:16 vertical video. Use 4:5 for portrait feed posts that show more of the frame, and 1:1 for square grids. You can export the same source in each ratio and compare.

Will the vertical video keep its quality?

The exporter re-encodes the picture as H.264 and caps the longest side at 1920 pixels, which matches what most platforms expect. The result is a new MP4, so quality depends on the source and the re-encode, not on a server-side compression tier.

Does making a video vertical shorten it?

No. Reframing changes the visible frame but keeps the full timeline and the audio. To remove time from the beginning, middle, or end, use a video trimmer instead.

Will the vertical video keep its audio?

Yes, when the source has a readable audio track. The exporter reframes and re-encodes the picture, then places the first audio stream into the MP4 as AAC. Sources without audio remain silent.
